Hi, My name is Avett!

I am a black & white soft hair Male Shitzhu/mix?Dog. I am 2 years and weigh 12 pounds. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is a big cuddler and loves to be held. He kind of minds his own business and doesn’t really require a lot of exercise. I think he would be perfect for an older couple that wants a lap dog.

Please offer this adorable 12 pound lap dog a loving, forever home today.

Avett’s Personality

He is a big cuddler and loves to be held. He kind of minds his own business and doesn’t really require a lot of exercise. I think he would be perfect for an older couple that wants a lap dog.

Avett’s Current Home Environment

We have four dogs. We rescued Avett and his brother Oliver last year. The two dogs tend to act like one. Our vet said it would be good to separate them because they tend to get overly protective of one another. If Oliver is playing, Avett will go after our other dogs to “protect” Oliver. Avett will also get protective when the other dogs are playing with any of the humans in our house. Avett and Oliver were sleeping in bed with me but if anyone came in my bedroom they would go crazy. They now sleep in a crate together and are fine with that.

Avett’s Current Family:

My husband and I have had ten dogs in the 25 years we have been together. We have always had multiple dogs at a time. Prior to the current 4 we have we had 4 labradoodles. They were all registered therapy dogs and we would visit hospitals with them. We are very devoted dog owners and the decision to rehome Avett is a difficult one and breaking my heart. That being said, I am so worried that one of the times he is “defending” his brother or us from the other dogs one of them is going to get hurt. I just can’t take the chance.

Avett’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He doesn’t like walks. He does like to run in the backyard and is very fast but mostly he just likes to curl up on the couch. I really think he would be fine in a house with another dog but maybe just not a “gang” like we have.

Cute Avett Story:

He will curl up unbelievably close to you. And when you hold him he kind of looks like he’s human.

Why is Avett Being Rehomed?

Our family has come to this difficult decision because we are worried that the next fight he gets in with one of his doggy brothers is going to be very serious.

Avett’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I would love for Avett to be in a home with maybe one other dog or by himself and get all of the attention. He is a great lap dog.
