Hi, My name is Gunner!

Gunner1

I am a White/Cream- Wiry and Soft Male Mixed- Lab/Terrier Dog. I am 11 years young and weigh 59 pounds. I live in Annapolis, MD.

Gunner is a really great dog. He has a very loving personality and is a great companion. He has been described as being very intuitive – it seems that he knows when you are not feeling well and tries to make you feel better. Despite his age, Gunner still loves to play with his toys, and enjoys a good walk. He is perfectly house trained and does not require a lot of work at all.

Gunner is being rehomed by his long-time owner, who is devastated to have to make this very difficult decision. She is expecting, and has recently married a man with a child. Since Gunner does not do well with children, it is necessary to place him in a new home. She is hoping to find a loving home for Gunner where he will be cherished for the rest of his days.

Gunner’s perfect home will be an adults-only situation. He is well used to spending a good part of the day on his own, so a working couple or single will be fine.? He would love to have a fenced yard, as he enjoys sunbathing. Please offer this sweet older boy a loving home. He has a wonderful, loving soul and will add plenty of love, joy, laughter and companionship to your life.

Gunner’s Personality

Gunner can take some time to warm up to new people but once you are “in” he will love you dearly. Can be very loving and knows when you are not feeling well. He is a pretty calm guy at this stage in life however he does get bursts of energy and likes to play with toys. He loves to go on walks and play in his yard. He does have noise anxiety and gets very scared during thunderstorms and fireworks.

Gunner’s Current Home Environment

Currently he lives in a home with a single owner but has lived with many other people (in addition to primary owner) and several other animals. He lived with his feline sister for 8 years (she recently passed) and has grown up around lots of different animal friends and family. He is home alone, non-crated, for about 8-9 hours a day. His first 3 years he went to Doggy Daycare until that became cost prohibitive. He does not get a ton of exercise currently but would love more. The home is fairly quiet and calm.

Gunner’s Current Family:

Right now it is just myself (primary owner) and Gunner that live in the house. My husband (recently married and moving) is over a fair amount and Gunner loves my mom and sister (his “Grandma” and “Aunt”).

Gunner’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Gunner loves all toys! He is so grateful guy for a new toy! He does love large stuffed animal toys. Gunner doesn’t get a lot of people food but he’s crazy for some cheese and the occasional baked chicken or grilled steak treat. He loves bully sticks! He has

Cute Gunner Story:

Not sure I can think of just one but I can tell you that whenever I have been down or sick Gunner has not left my side. He will stay with me until I am feeling better.

Why is Gunner Being Rehomed?

I was recently married and my husband has a 10 year old and I am also expecting soon. Gunner is good with people and other animals but does not do well with children. Additionally, where we are moving does not accept pets so I cannot even take him for a short term.

Gunner’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A home without children who will take him for walks and let him be around them when they do chores and hang out outside. Gunner is pretty laid back now but gets bursts of energy and loves to play with toys. He does well with a yard and likes to roam around and just sit in his yard. He would do well with owners who are firm but not harsh.
