Hi, My name is Tex!

Beagle Mix For Adoption in San Diego

I am a Brown/Black Male Shepherd/Beagle Mix Dog. I am 3 and weigh 45lbs. I live in San Diego, California.

I am a very loveable boy! I am cuddly and affectionate – and not a licker (although I do like to rub noses!) I am calm and well behaved indoors, and love to romp and play outdoors. I need strong guidance when I am on my leash, but am really good when off-leash. I love to hang out with other dogs at the dog park.

I am very protective and an excellent watch dog. I am great with children, and also get along well with cats and other dogs in the home. I am perfectly house-broken and also crate trained. I have been neutered and am up to date on my shots. Just an all-round great dog that is ready to own!

I am being rehomed by my owner, who is very sad to have to make this very difficult choice. She knows that it is what is best for me, though, since she simply does not have the time to give me the care, attention and companionship I deserve. Her work schedule is very busy, and she will soon be required to travel extensively. She is dearly hoping to find me a loving home with a family, single or couple who will cherish me.

My perfect home will be with someone who has lots of time to spend with me, and who will commit to providing me with a forever home where all my needs, wants and wishes will be taken care of. A nice, securely fenced yard would be great, and someone should be? home for at least part of the day.

In return, I will provide you with unlimited wags and wiggles, a steadfast friend and companion, and someone to keep your secrets and share your hopes and dreams. I love unconditionally.

Please offer me a home today. I will bring all of my supplies along with me, along with the sincere appreciation and friendship of my owner.

Tex’s Personality

He is very cuddly and affectionate with his people. He must have been trained not to lick because he does not lick at all. He shows affection in other ways like putting his nose to your nose!

He’s very calm in the house, and enjoys laying around, but he sure gets excited when he knows it’s time to go outside.

He has excellent protective instincts, and has always made me feel safe. He does have a bit of trouble on the leash, and doesn’t like when other dogs approach him. He is much better off the leash and will run and play for hours.

Tex’s Current Home Environment

Right now, I live with 2 other roommates in a nice apartment in San Diego. One of my roommates works from home, so there is usually someone around. It’s a nice home environment – lots of plants and its got a calm vibe. No crazy parties or long nights are happening in my home.

Tex’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Tex LOVES bones! This will keep him entertained for hours. He really loves stuffed animals, too. This is fine if you don’t mind picking up a bunch of fluff 10 minutes after giving him a stuffed toy. He’s very good at destroying those.

As for food, he’s not picky. I give him pretty generic dry food twice a day, and he does fine and his weight and digestion have not been an issue.

He likes to run free at dog parks. He’s not much of a swimmer, so the most he’ll go in the water is to get his feet wet. He’s not so interested in playing fetch or throwing a frisbee. He’d rather just run around and make dog friends.

Cute Tex Story:

I believe all animals have a sense that humans don’t have, and are keen on reading human emotions. Tex is no different, and he could always tell when i was feeling down. I remember one time in particular, I came home from work after a bad day and sat down on the coach. Tex was right there and put his head on my lap and just stayed there and didn’t move until i told him i was okay! He just knew I needed him there.

Why is Tex Being Rehomed?

I got a new job, and I’m suddenly required to travel a lot. While I do have roommates, I understand that Tex is not their responsibility, and I want to find him a loving forever home.

Tex’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

He’s great with all kinds of people. Ideally, it would be nice to place him with a family who is going to be around a lot. It would be nice for him to have a yard to run around in as he’s never had that before. He’s good with children, so a young family would be a good fit for Tex as well.

I would be happy with any family as long as Tex is given all the love he deserves.
